After languishing around the the American pro leagues for several years, the 5 foot 10 inch signal caller signed a contract with British Columbia, and promptly re-wrote the record books with an a jaw-dropping 6,600 passing yards! "The Rocket" was positioned in various places around the Toronto offence and earned all-league honors with big plays running, catching passes, and returning kicks. Not only did he help Toronto to the league championship, he was named MVP of the '91 league championship game!

There was plenty of pass-happy offensive action going in OTHER Canadian cities besides Vancouver and Toronto. In fact, four of the league's quarterbacks passed for over 4000 yards, and three threw for over 30 touchdowns! Not to be out-done, several star runners turned in impressive performances on the ground. BC's rookie back burst on the scene with sixteen majors, winning all-league honors! Winnipeg's top runner powered for close to 2000 yards and scored fifteen times. In all, five Canadian runners broke the 1000 yard mark, and a sixth fell just two yards short!

When the offenses WERE stopped--and that wasn't often--the kickers took over. Five of the league's place kickers topped 200 points, led by Toronto's all-league kicker, who booted an eye-popping 55 field goals and scored 236 points! There was added excitement in the punting game, with Edmonton's 5-foot-6 return specialist bringing back five punts for touchdowns.

Even with all that offence, Canadian defences had a few moments as well in '91. Winnipeg's opportunistic defensive unit helped the club to a second-place finish. The top two pass thieves of the '91 season both starred in the Winnipeg defensive secondary, and one of the top run stoppers started at middle linebacker. Calgary's pass-rushing defensive end led the league with 15 sacks, while Toronto's outside linebacker led the league with 113 tackles.
