Run Your OWN Pro Football League! The 2011 FOOTBALL AMERICA Card Set for SECOND SEASON Pro Football Game is NOW AVAILABLE!

Welcome to another season of Football America, SECOND SEASON Pro Football Board Game's classic fictional professional football league!

Football America was born in 2000 with the debut of PLAAY.com, as an "alternate universe" of pro football. The premise behind Football America is that it's sometimes fun for sports board gamers to play out an open-ended scenario, where you're creating your OWN pro football history, rather than re-creating it from what happened in real-life. With this set of Football America team cards, you arrange your league into divisions or conferences, create a schedule, and see what happens!

The 2011 Football America team cards sell for $17 postage-paid. That includes a league summary, an "instant Results" card, which allows you to gets results of games with a single dice roll, and a card containing ratings for about 100 "fringe" players, whom you can add to rosters as needed due to injuries or poor play. Everything you need to run your OWN football league, for under $20--that's a lot less than Jerry Jones paid! Here's a team-by-team preview of the 2011 season. NOTE that you don't have to use all twelve teams for your league, nor do you have to keep the teams in the cities to which we've assigned them...

CHICAGO: QB Mike Trocano is starting to slow down, so RB Sedrick Spinner will carry more of the load on offense in 2011. Spinner is one of the FA's elite backs, and will be near the top of your rushing standings. Unfortunately for Spinner, Chicago's O-line took a big hit when all-league C Everett Teltschick signed with Oklahoma City. G Justin Baker will have to take over as leader, because the rest of the line is run-of-the-mill. Tough defense has always been a hallmark of this club, and this year's edition--while not as dominant as in years past--is still respectable. SS Ryan Patterson is still the league's best, LB Tre Holton and DT Brandon Brown are play-makers, and a couple of rookie defenders are expected to make an impact in 2011; MLB Greg Olivea and DT Anthony Calloway. PROJECTION: 7-7

DETROIT: Last year's strong Detroit club is back mostly intact for another run at the FA title. QB Greg Carter is the league's marquee passer, and he'll have a couple of new people to throw to this year. Speedy WR Muhammed Bradley was picked up from Los Angeles to replace retired FA pass-catching legend Eric Yarber. At the other wideout spot is rookie Cardell Thomas. Carter's favorite receiver, though, remains all-league TE Lavell Hooks--a huge target and a devastating blocker as well. OT Wally Kleine and G Ray Isom return to anchor a very good offensive line. On defense, DE Torrance Rush was signed from Golden Bay to add some speed to the Detroit pass rush. The secondary, anchored by CB Floyd Robinson, looks to be a step slower this year, but still ranks in the top half of the league. PROJECTION: 10-4

GOLDEN BAY: A transition year for the Bay Area club, with a new offense led by new players. Longtime QB Mike Kelley is gone, and battling for the starting job will be a couple of youngsters: last year's back-up Randy Breaux, and rookie Colt McCown. McCown is a big-college pocket passer with moxie, while Breaux is a play-maker known for his mobility. You'll have to decide who gets the starting job. The running game will be spear-headed by another rookie, Jerrick Spann-Daniels, who's got both speed and power. Yet another rookie will make an instant impact on the offensive line, C Aundrae Steptoe. If the offense can generate some activity, the defense should be able to hold its own. Dominant play from ILB Eugene Chang and NT Jamaal Jackson make the Golden Bay defense especially tough to run against. PROJECTION: 6-8

LOS ANGELES: QB Matt Harrell could have a breakout year guiding what looks to be an explosive LA offense. Rookie TE Sen'Derrius Ross will be an instant hit, and steady veteran WR Blake Edmonds continues to be an inviting pass-catching target. Add blazing Detron Spikes to the mix at the other WR slot--he was picked up from San Antonio--and it could be a long year for enemy defenses. When Harrell gets tired of throwing, he can hand the ball off to tough, durable RB Alonzo Curtis. The defense is loaded with star players, too. Bookend CBs Dontari Harper and Darius Shaw will make plenty of plays, and DT Rodell Payton is a premiere run-stuffer. There's a new toe in Los Angeles this year--with his range declining, long-time kicker Rich Schwake was released, replaced by strong-legged rookie Aaron Jones. PROJECTION: 10-4

MEMPHIS: Much of 2010's cast returns for another campaign in Memphis--which is not necessarily good news. A couple of rookie defenders will try to add some juice to what was a tepid crew of defenders in 2010. DE Joey Nkang will turn up the pass-rushing heat, and MLB Willie Condren will plug some holes in the run defense. On offense, QB Robin Yates is another year older, and will run an offense that is a far cry from the crazy run-and-shoot Memphis offenses of the past. RB Hollis Munro will be the focal point of the attack, both as a runner and a pass receiver, and he's a good one. WR Titus Moy continues to be a headline-grabber, and he gets help this year from Ja'Rod West, signed as a free-agent from Oklahoma City. Rich Schwake takes over the place-kicking duties--another problem area in Memphis last year. Like Yates, he's no youngster, but he's still accurate inside 40 yards. PROJECTION: 7-7

NEW JERSEY: This could be a renaissance year for the FA's "other" New York area club. Last year's QB controversy has been settled--with Stu Barton and Jon Konopka both gone, the job now belongs to athletic, charismatic Wally Williamson. Williamson doesn't have the best "touch," but he can rally a team and is very mobile. To help steady Williamson, veteran star WR Kaseem Casey was signed from Philadelphia, and the two should strike up an instant connection. Getting the bulk of the work at RB will be rookie Martail Marshall, who could be the steal of the 2011 FA draft. The New Jersey offensive line is unheralded, outside of all-league G Gerrick Lundy, but they work well together and make very few mistakes. On defense, the story is even better. The New Jersey secondary is airtight, with CBs Tremaine Mack and Titus Butler, and S Trevor West and Keyshawn Dennis. There's not a better group in the league--each one has the ability to make a game-changing play. LBs Xavier Avery and Phil Hitt bring down opposing runners with brutal effectiveness. The D-line isn't so strong, but with the people New Jersey has backing them up, they don't need to be. PROJECTION: 10-4

NEW YORK: Last year's New York squad was a league favorite, but this year's edition might not even make the playoffs. The big question is, will someone step up to take the place of legendary FA passer QB Gary Zamberlin? Zamberlin was not re-signed, as age and injuries had slowed him down, and, in an interesting twist for your league, he's signed with rival New Jersey as a back-up and mentor to Wally Williamson! As a result, two young passers will compete for the job that was Zamberlin's for so many years. Last year's back-up Kato Lockhart will get his shot, but he'll be challenged by rookie Kurt Render. They're similar quarterbacks with similar skill sets. There could be trouble with the running game. Longtime New York workhorse Lawrence Thomas is ailing, and you may have to ask journeyman Dylan Mahoney, claimed off waivers from Los Angeles, to shoulder the load. More new faces on offense: WR Nate Scobie was picked up from Oklahoma City, and the new FB is Kasey Woolridge from Detroit. Perennial star T Paul St. James anchors the line. The strength of the New York defense is the pass rush, with MLB Mojo Jones and DE Marco Rodriguez wreaking misery on opposing passers. Kicking is solid with PK Danny Dixon and P Mason Horn. So if the QB situation settles out, the playoffs are a possibility. PROJECTION: 8-6

OKLAHOMA CITY: The "Prairie Bulldozer" Ronde Lincoln is back, and that's BAD news for opposing defenses. (And, we've added a special "second effort" dagger rating to make him even MORE effective!) Lincoln makes QB Archie Graham's job easy--just hand the ball off, and "watch Ronde run!" Graham CAN pass effectively, and has adequate pass-catchers--it's just that he seldom NEEDS them! Helping clear out running lanes for Lincoln is all-pro free agent acquisition C Everett Teltschick, one of the biggest signings of the off-season. Adding even more excitement in OKC, rookie sensation "Cowboy" Billy Howey, who excels at pass-catching and kick returns. You can even run him as the QB in OKC's version of the "wildcat!" If the opponents somehow stop 'em, OKC has the best pair of kickers in the FA in PK Emery Bing and P Morlon Moon. The defense grabs its share of the headlines, too, with game-changing CB Kamaal Dalton and LB Darius Wilkinson. All in all, it should be a GOOD year for football fans on the prairie! PROJECTION: 10-4

ORLANDO: It's likely going to be a VERY long season for your Orlando club, with problem areas everywhere you look. There's a muddled situation at QB, where you'll have to choose between journeyman Mike Burton and rookie Jeff Fountain. Expect very few touchdown passes. RB McDermott Davis shows flashes of blazing speed, but isn't a heavy-duty runner, and there's not much backing him up. T Trent Patton stands out in an otherwise below-average offensive line. Free-agent DE Tisa Umenola was signed away from Chicago to boost a flaccid pass rush, but he can't do it all by himself. The defensive secondary is alarmingly vulnerable. P Kris Murphy is one of the few bright spots on the roster--and you'll likely see a lot of him. PROJECTION: 3-11

PHILADELPHIA: Traditionally an FA playoff contender, this year's Philadelphia squad could well be an also-ran. It's not that they don't have any good players--they DO. RB Antwan O'Neal should again be among your leading rushers, and QB Max McGuire is a proven leader. On defense, CB Vincent Brown is perhaps the top player at his position in the FA, and the heart of the Philly defensive line is well-manned by hulking DT Bob Jenks and DT Derrick Nix. The problem is, this team lost some star players to free agency, and the replacements are just not of the same caliber. WR Kaseem Casey was signed by New Jersey, with unheralded rookie Ryan Ellison slotted to take his place. Worse than the loss of Casey was the departure of future Hall of Famer T Tom Wisniewski, who was lured away by Portland. Wisniewski's back-up, journeyman Omi Kelaho, fills that hole. And hard-hitting CB Yasser Brooks is on injured reserve this season, so you'll have to scramble through your reserves to find a replacement from the likes of Kelvin Richards, Bobby Acosta and rookie Chris Chukwurah. PROJECTION: 5-9

PORTLAND: A new era is ushered in, with the departure of long-time Portland QB Mike Del Mar and an influx of fresh, new stars. The biggest acquisition was all-league T Tom Wisniewski, signed as a free agent from Philadelphia, where he'll line up next to G Joey Bosa in a suddenly-formidable offensive line. TE Ryan Barnett joins the club after a stellar production last year with Los Angeles. WRs Darren Smith and Paris McCullough are solid pass-catchers, and capable RB Anthony Moreland provides an adequate ground threat. Directing the attack will be another newcomer, QB Stu Barton, a part-time starter last year in New Jersey. On defense, most of last year's crew is back, bolstered by yet another free-agent signing, towering DT Zack Barnes, who starred in 2010 with Oklahoma City. Field goal kicking was a sore spot last year, but that's been addressed, too--rookie PK Ryan Davis replaces Alex Morrill. All these changes could well add up to a playoff berth for this new-look club. PROJECTION: 9-5

SAN ANTONIO: Several lower-tier free-agent signings for 2011 signal a move away from last year's run-oriented attack. WR Kerry Jefferson comes over from Philadelphia, and QB Adam Davey was picked up from Orlando to press last year's starter, Cary Sutherland. T Josh Muniz joins from Portland, adding strength to an already decent offensive line. But this team still has the look of an also-ran. With the release of RB Imani Macklin, little-known rookie RB Wynel Griesen gets the job by default. LB Kevin Stemke and DE Travis Lowrey will put heat on enemy passers, but if they're neutralized, there are some serious issues in the secondary. S Maurice Lewis was brought in from OKC to help, and CB Eric Philyaw has always been a solid defender, but there are plenty of soft spots for opposing passers to exploit. With so many question marks, it's hard to think of this team as being a bona-fide contender--but they could pull off some surprise upsets. PROJECTION: 6-8
